Lake Union District includes neighborhoods surrounding what Native Americans referred to as Tenass Chuck (“little water”). The area was landlocked until the opening of Lake Washington Ship Canal in 1917 which connected Lake Washington to Puget Sound.

Lake Union Hit and Run Driver Sentenced

The hit-and-run driver who struck and killed bicyclist Michael Wang has been sentenced to 41 months in prison.

Erlin Garcia-Reyes, 28, of Normandy Park was sentenced Friday in King County Superior Court. He pleaded guilty in July to felony hit-and-run in Wang’s death last year.
