Eastlake Community Council September/October events

The Eastlake Community Council offers notice of the following events and comment opportunities.

Public meeting with the Police Department about public safety issues in Eastlake – Tues., Sept. 19  6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Agora Conference Center, 1551 Eastlake Ave. (at south end of neighborhood). Please also send your concerns to ECC at info@eastlakeseattle.org.

ECC Fall Celebration — Tues., Sept. 26 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Otter Bar and Burger, 2379 Eastlake Ave. Happy hour extends an extra hour for those who live or work in Eastlake.

ECC annual elections meeting — Tues., Oct. 3  at Pocock Rowing Center, 3320 Fuhrman Avenue E. (near SW corner of University Bridge). ECC annual elections are held at 6:45 p.m. From 7 to 9:30 p.m.: debates among candidates for Mayor, City Attorney, and City Council.

Public meeting on Eastlake transportation issues: bus service, parking, and [your greatest concern here] — Tues., Oct. 17  7 p.m. at Pocock Rowing Center, 3320 Fuhrman Avenue E.  Please also send your concerns to ECC at info@eastlakeseattle.org.

Election Day — Tues., Nov. 7  Vote as if your neighborhood depends on it. To register: http://www.kingcounty.gov/elections.

Public meeting on land use issues in Eastlake – Thurs., Nov. 9  7 p.m. at Pocock Rowing Center, 3320 Fuhrman Avenue E.  Please also send your concerns to ECC at info@eastlakeseattle.org.

[Note: Because meeting space is not available in public schools early in the school year, ECC’s fall public meetings are at the Pocock Rowing Center and the Agora Conference Center. ECC is grateful to the Pocock Rowing Foundation and Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. for donating use of these magnificent facilities].

Change.org petition to save the parking lot under I-5, a block south of the University Bridge The Pocock Rowing Center, Movement Systems Physical Therapy, Seattle Spine and Sports Medicine, and Wallace & Solhaug Family Dentistry are asking the public to sign their Change.org petition “to convince WSDOT that we need the parking at the north end of Eastlake to preserve our community’s heritage, the health and welfare of our patients, and the economic viability of the Eastlake neighborhood.” WSDOT is considering excluding all parking from the lot for five years, and use it instead to stage construction materials for the SR-520 expansion project.
