South Lake Union wedding venue that closed its doors ordered to pay $50,000 to consumers

The former operators of a Seattle venue who booked events, including weddings, knowing the space would be unavailable were ordered by a judge Tuesday to pay nearly $305,000.

The Ronald and Amanda Cranes’ business, EM Fine Art, had hosted events at a South Lake Union gallery.

In two mass emails in June 2014, the Cranes informed their customers they wouldn’t provide use of the venue for already scheduled events and wouldn’t be refunding down payments, Attorney General Bob Ferguson said. The first email falsely claimed the gallery had been destroyed by an electrical fire.
