Even before gourmet cupcakes became the latest baking trend, there was Trophy Cupcakes and Party. Opened in 2007, this cupcakery graces Wallingford Center with a charming little sweet tooth shop. Walking into Trophy Cupcakes is like entering a carefree world of whimsy and leaving the adult world behind, something like the way it must feel to visit Willy Wonka’s fictional factory as we have all imagined from watching the movie.
With an endearing modern/vintage spin, the shop offers daily cupcake specials such as the classic Hummingbird, Red Velvet, Chocolate Graham Cracker, Samoas, and Lemon Strawberry just to name a few, running $3.00 to $4.50 a piece or less when buying a dozen. Many of the varieties come topped with a delectable cream cheese frosting so smooth and creamy you’ll forget about any other gritty sugar frosting you’ve ever choked down on a store bought cake in the past. And these bakers don’t cut corners with the quality of their products. The mini cakes are cooked fresh throughout the day and use plenty of local and organic ingredients. After a sweet treat and a cup of coffee, guests can browse the other artsy shops of Wallingford Center – surely with a lasting smile upon their faces from the lasting delight of a Trophy cupcake.
But the joy doesn’t end just within the bakery. Trophy Cupcakes also caters for parties and weddings decorating to match your theme complete with imported paper decorations, vintage curiosities, and seemingly limitless artistic ideas for cupcake styles and toppers. This widely praised cupcake shop has become, dare I say, famous? Undoubtedly, a Seattle sweet spot on the map, kids and adults alike will revel in the sugary bliss of this bakery like no other of its kind.
