Seattle’s thriving neighborhood expands its diverse offering of cuisine
SEATTLE, Wash. – August 1, 2012 – What do an Italian bakery, innovative vegetarian cuisine, wholesome from-scratch baked goods, and the leading doughnut maker in Seattle have in common? All four will open for business this month in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. They include La Toscanella, Veggie Grill, Specialty’s and Top Pot Doughnuts.

La Toscanella is an Italian bakery that will offer patrons breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as happy hour and take-out items. Known for their authentic Italian desserts, they will be located at 116 Westlake Avenue on the street level. Based in Southern California, Veggie Grill is a popular vegan chain and South Lake Union marks its first location in Washington State. The menu offers meat- and dairy-free sandwiches, burgers and salads as well as a variety of gluten- and soy-free options, including macaroni and cheese and a chocolate pudding parfait.

Specialty’s Café and Bakery will cater to the breakfast and lunch crowds with their classic soups, sandwiches, salads and baked goods. With over 40 restaurants in California, Illinois and Washington, the South Lake Union location is a welcome addition to Specialty’s existing lineup available in Bellevue and Seattle. Specialty’s also offers catering and food-delivery options and recently added Peet’s Coffee & Tea to its beverage offerings.
