Seattle Facebook Offices Moving to South Lake Union

The Seattle Facebook office is moving east – but not across the lake.

The company today announced that it will move from its office near Pike Place Market to a larger space on Minor Avenue, just below the base of Capitol Hill, in February.

There’s enough room at the new office to more than triple the size of the Seattle office, which is already the company’s largest engineering site outside of its Palo Alto headquarters.

Since it opened with three employees in August 2010, the company’s Seattle office has grown to more than 60 engineers. The new site has room for up to 200 employees, spokesman Slater Tow said.

Last summer Facebook outgrew its current office at First Avenue and Stewart Streetand expanded to another floor, but it was a temporary fix until a larger space was found.

Ari Steinberg, the lead engineer at the Seattle office, said in a post that the new space “will give us room to keep growing as we hire the best engineers in Seattle.”
